Diane Crosdale
Key Account Manager – Coal Seam Gas

Diane Crosdale is a highly experienced senior manager, holding post graduate qualifications in environmental management, urban and regional planning and an MBA. Diane has over 25 years experience working in Local Government, State Government ( Planning & Environment; Premier and Cabinet, Office of Environment and Heritage) and the private sector. Her areas of expertise relate to environmental management, strategic planning, development assessment, social planning, Aboriginal heritage and disaster recovery. Diane has a strong background working in regional areas around competing issues of land use, economic growth, environmental management and social need. This experience has included extensive community consultation with diverse communities. Diane is currently employed by the NSW Department of Industry, within Industry Investment and Export Services as the Key Account Manager for Coal Seam Gas. This role brings to the forefront her previous experiences working with industry, communities and the political spheres of local and state government.
 
Steve Davies
National Policy Manager
Australian Pipeline Industry Association (APIA)
Steve Davies is the National Policy Manager at the Australian Pipeline Industry Association, with responsibility for government relations and policy development for the gas transmission industry. Policy issues on Steve’s mind this year include: the future of gas in Australia, economic regulation of transmission pipelines, gas market development, competition, capacity trading, transparency and information issues and the treatment of pipelines in planning legislation.
 
Charlie Dowsett

Charlie Dowsett joined the Department in December 2012 and is currently the Executive Director of Industry Investment & Export Support. (II&ES) The II&ES Branch works to attract local and offshore investment into the energy and resources sector. The Branch is a primary contact point for industry, to actively engage and liaise with Government. II&ES also assists companies navigate and negotiate with Government Departments to achieve positive development outcomes. Charles has over 25 years experience in resources and energy having worked in the private sector in investment banking in Asia, Europe and Australia as an Executive Director: Head of Commodities for Asia Pacific and the Global Head of Precious Metals for both The Royal bank of Scotland and ABN AMRO Bank NV. Charles has also worked as a commodity and resources banking specialist and consultant at NM Rothschild & Sons Australia, and Citibank Australia. Paul Fennelly
Chief Operating Officer - Eastern Region

Paul Fennelly is the Chief Operating Officer - Eastern Region for APPEA which is the peak industry association representing Australia’s Oil and Gas industry. Paul is responsible for driving APPEA’s vision to achieve a growing and internationally competitive Australian oil and gas industry that makes a vital and sustained contribution to the nation’s economy. Before commencing with APPEA he was a senior executive with Hastings Funds Management, a leading global investor in infrastructure assets. From 2002-2006 he was Director-General of the Queensland Department of State Development Trade and Innovation, and concurrently he served as the State’s Coordinator-General. Previously Paul held a number of senior leadership roles with the Australian Industry Group having served as Executive Director – Victoria and Executive Director- Queensland. Paul holds degrees in Law and Arts (Politics, Economics) and post graduate qualifications in IR/Law.
 
Lucy Flemming

Lucy Flemming was appointed as the Managing Director/CEO of Coal Services in December 2011. Lucy joined Coal Services in August 2010 as Chief Financial Officer. She has more than 29 years’ experience in executive positions in accounting, business, finance, investment and retail areas, across the public and private sectors. Prior to joining Coal Services, Lucy spent seven years at WorkCover NSW where she managed various facets of workers compensation insurance in NSW. In Lucy’s last three years at WorkCover NSW she was the Director of Regulatory and Financial Services. This role included the financial governance of extensive insurance scheme assets, fraud prevention and detection, insurer licensing and private rulings. Lucy’s strengths include leadership, finance and business strategy, and continually looking for new ways to make improvements. She holds a Bachelor of Business degree with a major in Accounting and sub-major in Law. Lucy is a qualified CPA and a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
 
Paul Flynn

Paul Flynn - BComm, FCA. Paul has extensive experience in the mining, infrastructure, construction and energy sectors gained through 20 years as a professional advisor at Ernst & Young. Paul was formerly Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Tinkler Group where he was integral in negotiating the merger of Aston Resources Limited with Whitehaven Coal Limited. Prior to joining the Tinkler Group, Paul was the Managing Partner of Ernst & Young’s Sydney office responsible for over 2000 staff and 150 partners and a member of its Oceania executive team. As a partner for over eight years, Paul managed many of the firm’s largest mining and energy clients across Australia, Asia, South and North America. Paul has also fulfilled various leadership roles with large corporations on secondment including as the CFO of a top 50 listed company. Paul is a Director of the Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group Ltd, Australian Coal Association Low Emission Technology Pty Limited, World Coal Association and an executive committee member of New South Wales Minerals Council.
 
Matt Fusarelli

Matt Fusarelli co-ordinates and manages AME’s commodity research teams. Matt is experienced and knowledgeable in the resources sector and has extensive experience in economics, finance, project modelling and commodity research. Prior to joining AME, Matt worked as an analyst and industry economist with Macquarie Group. His commercial experience also includes working as a project finance analyst for the resources sector and in risk management at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Matt worked for a number of years in government affairs consultancy and is currently a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
 
Robin Griffin

Wood Mackenzie
Robin joined Wood Mackenzie in 2003 and has spent considerable time in both coal consulting and research roles. Consulting assignments included project due diligence, market assessments, price forecasting and coal procurement. An integral part of the research team since 2007, Robin has undertaken global mine cost estimation and supply analysis for both coal and base metals. Robin joined the coal markets team in 2012 and is now responsible for global metallurgical coal markets analysis. Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie Robin spent 7 years in the power and coal industries in Hong Kong, India, Indonesia and Australia undertaking coal procurement, coal exploration, project development geological and engineering roles. Robin also worked as a coal marketer selling thermal coal in Asia. Robin holds a BSc (Hons) in Geology and an MSc in Mining Engineering, from Camborne School of Mines, UK.
 
Kylie Hargreaves

In October 2013, Kylie was appointed to the position of Deputy Secretary, Resources and Energy, a specialist division within the NSW Department of Industry (formerly known as NSW Trade and Investment). Her division has a variety of roles related to the effective, sustainable exploitation and management of the State’s Resources and Energy sectors. Within NSW Department of Industry, Kylie has previously held the roles of Acting Deputy Director General for Industry, Innovation Hospitality and the Arts, Executive Director for Investment and Export Services and Executive Director for International Markets and Trade. Prior to joining NSW Department of Industry in July 2009, Kylie spent 10 years overseas as Australia’s Senior Trade Commissioner for the UK, Ireland and Israel; Senior Trade Commissioner for West USA and Senior Trade Commissioner for Spain and Portugal.
 
Katharine Hole

Since 2007, Katharine has predominantly worked as a senior executive in the NSW public sector successfully leading and managing a variety of business units (policy, programs and regulatory) in resources and energy as well as delivering a number of major projects. During this time, Katharine worked for a year as a senior consultant in Canada and the US advising companies on a range of resource and energy related projects. Prior to joining the public sector, Katharine worked in the private sector as an economist and on projects related to the fiance sector. This included time with a global bank in London.
 
Marian Hookham

Marian Hookham is a Senior Manager with IHS Energy and heads the Australian reporting team. She has over 15 years experience in the coal industry previously working for consultants Barlow Jonker and Wood Mackenzie. Marian focuses on general supply/demand drivers of both thermal and coking coal markets.
 
Claudia Huertas

Prior to joining DRE, Claudia Huertas was appointed as Director, Scheme Reform with the Office of Finance & Services working within the Safety, Return to Work & Support cluster to lead the implementation of significant Legislative Reform across the NSW Workers Compensation Insurance System. Claudia later ran a $2 billion tender on behalf of the department to secure contracts with commercial insurance providers, this involved the development of a new business model and framework by which to manage and deliver against the new contractual arrangements. Claudia’s career began in the Investment Banking & Corporate Advisory fields. She has since executed significant Change Programs in the private and public sectors providing business process optimisation; increased efficiencies; organisational restructures and Industry reform in the Telecommunications; Finance & Insurance industries.
 
Peter Mitchley
General Manager NSW Energy
Santos
After many years of working in Africa, Europe and Asia, leading technical teams, developing international economic models and negotiating commercial arrangements across the globe, Peter joined Santos to head up Santo’s commercial and Marketing Group in Adelaide. In early 2012 he moved with his family to Sydney to become GM of Santo’s Energy NSW. He is currently working to develop the Narrabri Gas Project, which could deliver up to half of NSW’s natural gas needs from coal seam gas resources in and around the Pilliga. Peter has worked in most of the oil and gas provinces around the globe and prior to Sydney has had his homes in Johannesburg, London, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and Adelaide. He has degrees in Engineering and Economics.
 
Kirsten Molloy

Hunter Valley Coal Chain Coordinator
Kirsten Molloy is Chief Executive Officer of the Hunter Valley Coal Chain Coordinator (HVCCC), an industry-funded group that works collaboratively to deliver capacity efficiently and effectively along one of the world’s largest and most dynamic coal chain. HVCCC has supported the large-scale supply chain alignment and efficiencies in the industry. Prior to taking up her role at HVCCC in early 2013, Kirsten was Business Manager of Mining Services for the South East Australian region for Orica. At Orica (formerly ICI), she held a range of other senior Australian and global commercial and technical roles over 16 years. Kirsten attained a PhD in Chemistry at the University of Newcastle in 1997, having supported her studies via undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships, whilst working part-time at University, BHP and TAFE. She completed an MBA from Deakin University in 2006. Kirsten grew up in and currently resides with her family in the Hunter. She pursues multiple community interests, trying to ensure demand for diversity in leadership through Verity and the Equal Futures project. She supports prevention of domestic violence through Run Against Violence and is an Executive Producer on the documentary Iceberg. She also sits on the local SIDS and Kids Hunter Committee, and is a Commissioner in the Scout Movement.
 
Seshadri Mysore

Seshadri Mysore joined the Office of Finance & Services (OFS) in November 2014 as a Principal Project Manager - ICT. Seshadri has over 25 years’ experience in manufacturing engineering and technology working within the private sector in India, Singapore and Australia. He has worked in various organisations including Bosch, NMB Singapore, and Computershare. Prior to joining OFS, Seshadri worked at Computershare in various team leadership and program management roles managing large IT teams and responsible for IT Strategy and Integration Programs. As a Principal Project Manager within OFS, Seshadri is responsible for delivering ICT Projects within OFS and in collaboration with other NSW Government Agencies. Education: Bachelor of Technology from University of Technology, Sydney and a Master of Computing Degree from University of Western Sydney.
 
Tim Nelson
Head of Economics, Policy and Sustainability
AGL Energy
Tim Nelson is the Head of Economics, Policy and Sustainability at AGL Energy. In this role, Tim is responsible for: AGL’s sustainability strategy; greenhouse accounting and reporting; AGL’s energy and greenhouse research; AGL’s corporate citizenship program, Energy for Life; and energy and greenhouse policy. Tim is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at Griffith University and has had several papers published in Australian and international peer-reviewed journals. He has presented at conferences in Australia and throughout Asia and Europe. Tim holds a first class honours degree in economics and is a chartered secretary.

The Hon Anthony Roberts MP
Minister for Industry, Resources and Energy
The Hon Anthony Roberts MP is the Minister for Industry, Resources and Energy in the NSW Government. A Member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly, he has represented the Electorate of Lane Cove for the Liberal Party since 2003. Educated at Saint Ignatius’ College, Riverview, Anthony attended the University of Technology, Sydney, where he studied business and served as President of the UTS Union. In 2010, he graduated with a Masters of Arts in Strategic Communications from Charles Sturt University. In 1994 Anthony volunteered for military service, enlisting in the Australian Army Reserve and serving for nine years, retiring with the rank of Captain. During this period of service he was deployed to Bougainville as part of Operation Bel Isi, the Australian effort to monitor a ceasefire following years of civil unrest. Elected to Lane Cove Council in 1995, Anthony served two terms as a Councillor, including two years as Mayor. Between 1996 and 2003, Anthony served as an advisor to Prime Minister John Howard. In the NSW Parliament Anthony has served in several Shadow Portfolios, including Emergency Services, Juvenile Justice, Citizenship, Volunteering and the Arts. Following the Coalition victory in the March 2011 election, Anthony was appointed Minister for Fair Trading in the O’Farrell Government, assuming his position on 3 April 2011. Upon taking office, he immediately embarked on a wide-ranging Fair Trading reform agenda in areas including the State’s fifty year-old strata and community title laws, the home building sector, the retirement village industry, the motor vehicle industry, and the residential land lease communities sector. He successfully implemented legislation to prohibit the sale, manufacture and possession of synthetic drugs, was responsible for introducing new measures to reduce the number of children falling from apartment windows, and developed new laws to address the issue of ticket scalping for major events in NSW. On 9 December 2013 Anthony was promoted by then-Premier Barry O’Farrell to the role of Minister for Resources and Energy, and Special Minister of State. On 23 April 2014 Premier Mike Baird promoted Anthony to the additional role of Leader of the House in the NSW Legislative Assembly, on top of his existing portfolios. As Leader of the House, Anthony is responsible for the Government’s legislative agenda. Since December 2013 Anthony has embarked on a series of aggressive energy market reforms, including deregulating electricity prices, announcing a market-led rollout of smart electricity meters and ending gold-plating of the electricity networks. In the resources sector he has delivered the landmark NSW Gas Plan, facilitated the signing of an historic agreement on land access between gas producers and landholders, and commenced the first NSW Minerals Industry Action Plan. Following the re-election of the Baird Government in March 2015, Anthony was promoted to Minister for Industry, Resources and Energy in the second Baird Cabinet. In this capacity he has been tasked with running the newly-created super-department of Industry, Regional Development and Skills, and is leading the Government’s commitment of creating 150,000 new jobs over the next four years.

Reinhold Schmidt has over 20 years’ experience in the mining industry. Prior to joining Yancoal Australia, Reinhold was the Chief Operating Officer of Xstrata Coal Queensland and previously the Executive General Manager for Xstrata Coal’s Wandoan project. He was also formerly the President of the Colombian coal assets of Glencore.
 
Greg Sullivan

Greg Sullivan joined the NSW Minerals Council as Policy Director in October 2014, with responsibility for development of industry positions on planning, training, land use, regional development, bio-diversity and indigenous employment policy and legislation. Greg also leads the industry’s stakeholder engagement processes, and in particular the Council’s flagship engagement program the Upper Hunter Mining Dialogue. Prior to joining the mining sector, Greg was Deputy Director General responsible for the NSW Environmental Protection Agency. In 2012 Greg joined the Australian Coal Association as Deputy CEO and more recently was Interim CEO of ACA Low Emissions Technology Ltd which manages the coal industry's investment in low emission technologies. Greg holds master’s degrees in law and public administration.
